Robbie Magasiva is in everything

Is this all I'm good for?
Recently I’ve been catching up on NZ films that I should have seen ages ago. So I watched Sione’s Wedding, which was fantastic, and then Stickmen which wasn’t so great but okay. Common to both was Robbie Magasiva playing essentially the same character: an oversexed Samoan beefcake.
Then I realised that Robbie Magasiva has been in every NZ television show and film ever made. A cursory investigation (his Wikipedia page) proved this to be not quite the truth, but still, there remains the overwhelming feeling that he has his acting fingers in every film pie that calls for any sort of Polynesian flavour. Why is this?

Lord Voldemort isn’t scary at all

Gor lumme!

I guess on the whole it was good fun apart from a few things which really struck me:
- The actors playing the ‘children’ are all now well into their 30s.
- I wanted to beat up Ron Weasley.
- Ron has great hair now (hence #2).
- Hermione Granger is no longer the smoldering sexpot she was at 11 years old.
- Voldemort didn’t look very scary at all. He was just an average bloke with quite bad teeth and a couple of fish gills instead of a nose.
Here is absolute proof that the creative people behind Harry Potter need to sharpen their ideas up quick smart on old Voldee. It shouldn’t be this easy to makeover the Lord of Evil (someone apparently so scary that everyone shits themselves if his name is merely spoken):

Quantum of Solace review
Last Friday night I made the stupid mistake of trying to have my cake and eat it too. That is to say, I tried to have my usual friday night swill-fest and take in the lastest Bond film, Quantum of Solace.
Needless to say I can’t remember much of the film at all, but thought I might as well review it any way. Here are the few things I can remember: Continue Reading
