The Japanese are simply incredible, their television shows are at least 50 years ahead of the rest of the world. I can just imagine a boardroom full of top Japanese television execs. One of them is like, ‘hey, everybody loves tetris, so why don’t we do a show about tetris where the tetris pieces … are people!‘. And no one’s like ‘uuuum, what are you 10 years old?’. Just lots of high fives and finger pistols mixed with bittersweet jealousy for not thinking of it first, and then a big rubber stamp. Three days later, and some props department somewhere is making giant polystyrene screens with strange shapes cut out of them.
